In a heartwarming display of generosity, STARUP NGO, under the visionary leadership and sponsorship of Sonja Arup from the Canary Islands, distributed a substantial donation of essential materials to worthy beneficiaries on November 12, 2025. The ceremony took place at the Bakau Fire and Rescue Station, highlighting the organization’s commitment to serving the community.

The event was honored by the presence of esteemed government officials, including Hon. Minister for Youths and Sports, Bakary Bajie, accompanied by directors and senior government officials. The donation comprised a wide range of vital items carefully selected to meet the diverse needs of the recipient institutions. Six deserving organizations benefited from the generosity:

1. Shelter for Children & Home for the Elderly
2. SOS Bakoteh
3. Nema Su Home Care
4. Second Home
5. Dawa Centre
6. Sinchu Orphanage

Supporting Education and Sports

In addition to the orphanages, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE) received tables and chairs, as well as a package of foodstuffs. The National Nutrition Agency (NANA) also benefited from a food package. Furthermore, two local football teams were equipped with jerseys, promoting sports development and teamwork.
