Gambia Fire and Rescue Services Recruit Intake 2024/25 Swearing-in Ceremony

In a momentous event marking the beginning of their journey into the noble profession of firefighting and emergency response, 249 recruits of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) Intake 2024/25 took their oath of service at a formal swearing-in ceremony held in Mandinari.

The solemn occasion was presided over by Samba Jarju, assistant chief fire officer, who led the new recruits in their oath, signifying their commitment to protecting lives and property across The Gambia. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Sang Colley Ndow, the chief fire officer, Assistant Chief fire officer, Masaneh S.K Bah, the Alkalo of Mandinari, and members of the Mandinari community, who came in large numbers to witness the historic ceremony.

The recruits, comprising 135 males and 114 females, stood in disciplined formation as they pledged their dedication to duty, discipline, and selfless service. Their enlistment into service, which officially commenced on March 1, 2024, marks the beginning of a rigorous training program designed to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and resilience required for the challenging tasks ahead.

In his address, Samba Jarju emphasized the importance of courage, teamwork, and professionalism in firefighting. He urged the recruits to remain steadfast in their commitment and to uphold the values of the GFRS throughout their careers.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Masaneh S.K Bah echoed these sentiments, highlighting the critical role of the fire and rescue service in national safety and disaster response. He commended the recruits for choosing a path of service and sacrifice, reassuring them that their training would prepare them to handle emergencies with efficiency and confidence.

The Alkalo of Mandinari extended a warm welcome to the recruits and GFRS officials, expressing pride in the community’s role in hosting such a significant event. He encouraged the new trainees to embrace their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.

The ceremony concluded with a show of support from the Mandinari community, who applauded the recruits for their commitment. With their oath taken, the GFRS Recruit Intake 2024/25 officially embarked on their journey, set to undergo different forms and shapes of emergency response scenario.

As these young men and women step forward to serve, they carry with them the hopes and expectations of a nation, prepared to stand at the forefront of emergency response and public safety in The Gambia.
