GRADUATION OF FIREFIGHTERS AND NON-OFFICERS IN ICT AND RADIO COMMUNICATION.

Today at Serekunda Fire and Rescue Station, eight firefighters and seven non-officers graduated in ICT and Radio Communication at the GFRS ICT Training Centre. The training on Wireless Radio Communication was limited only to the firefighters. This was a three-month intensive program. The ceremony was attended by relatives, friends, and officers of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).

The event featured a drama presentation illustrating the thematic modules of the training, highlighting the participants’ practical understanding of ICT and radio communication in emergency response situations.

Senior Divisional Fire Officer(SDO) Bunja Susso advised the graduands to share the knowledge and skills they acquired with colleagues who could not participate in the training. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and continuous learning within the Service.

Inspector Yahya Jallow of the Gambia Police Force, a specialist in radio communication and one of the lead trainers, spoke on the critical role of radio communication for security institutions. He noted that effective communication is essential for coordination, response, and operational efficiency during emergencies.

Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Mustapha Joof, (ADO) Head of ICT and Radio Communication, commended the participants for their dedication and commitment throughout the course. He assured that the Service will continue to invest in capacity-building programs aimed at strengthening communication and operational efficiency across all stations.
