PRESS RELEASE

RE: FALSE REPORT ON FIRE INCIDENT AT BRUFUT GHANA TOWN BEACH

The attention of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) has been drawn to a statement circulated online, claiming that the recent fire incident at Brufut Ghana Town Beach was extinguished by personnel of the Brusubi Police and the Brufut Anti-Crime Unit.

The GFRS wishes to make it categorically clear that this claim is false, unfounded, and without any factual basis. At no point did the said units extinguish the blaze. The fire was attended to and effectively managed by firefighters from the Serrekunda and Bakau Fire and Rescue Stations, who were promptly deployed to the scene.

We strongly advise individuals and institutions to desist from publishing misleading information of this nature, as it not only demonstrates a total disregard for professionalism but also undermines and demoralizes the dedicated work of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Service—a service that has consistently risked lives to safeguard people and property.

The GFRS remains committed to its mandate of protecting life and property, and we urge the public to rely only on verified and credible sources of information in such matters.

Pateh Gibba
